Choreography Intensive with Michelle Olson

December 8th- 12th @ The Scotia Bank Dance Centre

Presented by Raven Spirit Dance’s IndigenousGround Dance Training Series in partnership with Scotiabank Dance Centre

Through diving deep into the creative process during this week-long intensive, participants will surface with images and movement that resonate from the core of your perspective. Arrival at these discoveries will happen through a daily morning class that incorporates and explores developmental movement patterns and movement dynamics. In the afternoon, we will explore into our creative impulses and choreographic queries and investigate what moves us into expression.

This workshop is for experienced performers and creators who are interested in developing their range of dynamic expressive potential and applying it to their creative practice.  This workshop combines concepts of Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentals, contemporary dance and Indigenous perspectives on the creative process.

Michelle Olson is a member of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in First Nation and the Artistic Director of Raven Spirit Dance.  She is a CMA (Certified Movement Analyst), choreographer, performer, yoga and dance instructor.  Her work has been shared on stages across Canada in the areas of dance, theatre and opera.
