Raven Spirit Dance creates and produces contemporary dance that is rooted in Indigenous worldviews and honours the communities and artists we work with. We share stories through Indigenous perspectives and practices and create opportunities for others to do the same.

Our Core Values:

  • Generosity
  • Integrity
  • Honouring
  • Courage
  • Creation

Raven Spirit Dance strives to balance its energies between these five distinct but interrelated streams of activity:

1. Creation & Performance

  • Research, creation and production of new work by RSD’s artistic team
  • Touring new work and repertoire (locally, nationally and internationally), with an emphasis on strengthening relationships with Indigenous artists and communities.

2. Mentorship

Providing mentorship to Indigenous dance artists in the areas of creation, sharing, administration and leadership.

3. Sharing Opportunities

  • Presentation and curation of other Indigenous artists.
  • Connecting artists with resources and platforms to develop and share their work.

4. Nurturing Relationships

Committing time and energy to reciprocal relationships within the arts community that engage and support Indigenous creative work.

5. Advocacy

  • Challenging institutions and non-Indigenous led organizations to be accountable in creating, supporting and expanding space for Indigenous arts.
  • Asserting that institutions and non-Indigenous led organizations do the labor of educating themselves about Indigenous ways of being and knowing.

NEWS & EVENTS

Eternal Gestures

Celebrate the world premiere of Eternal Gestures, a visionary trilogy of solo works choreographed by Starr Muranko, Michelle Olson and Margaret Grenier, performed by Co.ERASGA Artistic Director Alvin Erasga Tolentino.
This poetic performance uplifts Indigenous women’s voices, honours connection to land and spirit, and speaks to truth, healing and the decolonization of art. Tolentino’s performance becomes a spiritual journey and a vessel for knowledge-sharing.
This milestone event marks Co.ERASGA’s 25th anniversary and reaffirms the company’s deep commitment to cross-cultural and experimental dance exploring identity, ancestry and environment.
